KLG 575 Router through NTL modem problem
I have a KLG 575 Gold router which is connected to an NTL cable modem. From this i have a wireless link to my Laptop. I appreciate that this is an odd configuration but i have had to do it as installing a cable to the computer is practically impossible.
I have had the installation running for about 9 months now and have just got a problem. My network card failed so i bought a new one. now I can't get a connection to the router. The only way i can work is to connect the laptop direct to the modem.
When i first set up i had a lot of problems and it took KCorp's tech support about 4 weeks to solve. Unfortunately KC has now closed their support centre so i am on my own.
What i am struggling with is how to configure the router. I seem to remember that i had a user specified IP but it didn't work when i put that in.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Re: KLG 575 Router through NTL modem problem
Hi Howard
to cable forum
can you get to the configuration pages by browsing to
http://192.168.1.1/
user/password is admin/admin
then run the wizard & choose 'DHCP enable' & 'obtain IP automatically (DHCP client)'
that should get the basic router functions working - I would get that sorted first, before setting up the wireless ability - don't forget the security settings

Re: KLG 575 Router through NTL modem problem
Hi Homealone,
You sound like you're in the know with these things.
I am having a few problems setting up a second computer in the house through a router.
It is an HP, the set up works perfectly until it trys gets to the DNS section (domain name services). It states that my firewall is set to the wrong configuration. I have closed my firewall down and tried to re-start the installation but it still doesnt work.
Please could you give me a new tips with all this it would be great.
many thanks
floydy

hi floydy
lol - I knew enough to follow the installation wizard, luckily enough it worked fine, then after that it was just a case of turning off the cable modem, router & PC , then reboot the modem, wait for it to settle, reboot the router - similarly let it settle, then boot the PC - that is how it should work.
- I'm not sure why DNS would be a problem, though - or how to fix it, unfortunately

Re: KLG 575 Router through NTL modem problem
Dear all
Thanks to your suggestions i have now managed to set up my wireless link.
This is what i did:
1. I reset the router to factory settings.
2. Connected the router to my computer with an ethernet cable and booted up the computer.
3. input the router address (192.168.1.1) into Internet explorer.
4. Used the router wizard set to dhcp.
5. closed down the computer and router and unplugged the NTL modem.
6. Waited 10 minutes, booted up the modem, linked the modem to the router and booted up, linked the router to the computer and switched on.
7. went to the router page and into WAN, used the "clone MAC address" and set to dchp.
8. Success!!!
Hope this may help others.
