Can not access modem or router config pages

I can not connect to either my Cable Modem or Router Config pages via browser, both eventually give error 504 Gateway Timeout.

Have seen a similar problem here <http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/12...-to-modem.html> but mine is not resolved.

I have no actual problem accessing my LAN or Internet, just unable to access modem or router pages.

In addition to power cycling/reboot of PC, modem & router, I have connected modem directly to PC, flushed DNS cache, tried Firefox & IE8, even looked in hosts file in case Spybot had blocked for some reason.

Also temporarily disabled Firewall and Spybot, done full AV/Spyware scans etc, nothing shows up as a problem.

However, another PC on network can see and access router config OK (haven't yet tried to access modem config from that), so problem seems to be setting(s) on main PC, but I don't know what. Was working fine a couple of months ago.

Both running on Windows 7.

Probably missing something glaringly obvious

Re: Can not access modem or router config pages

Connecting via a proxy will cause your issue.

Mick,

You area star, thanks very much.

I selected the proxy a few weeks ago when having problems accessing web pages.

I said the cause would probably be obvious

Thanks again, you've saved me from pulling out what little hair I have left
