Naughty! Naughty! Using Virgin Mobile to call 789....
.....calls are supposed to be absolutely free unless you speak to someone. If you do, it is 10p per call (According to website).
These calls are showing on bill as 08456000789 Local Toll Rate and being charged at about 50p per minute. Am I having a particularly Doh! moment and missing something blindingly obvious here?
Also - Trying to call Australia and get recorded message, presumably from Virgin, stating, "Calls to this number have been barred from your phone". This message is repeated twice and then nothing.....Which is precisely why I dialled 789 (several times) in the first place to try and sort out this 'call barred' issue.
Any advice/info appreciated.
Regards - G.

10per call is proberbly BT rate, Virgin put their 0845 calls up tremendously during the year.

No I think he means it is 10p per call to phone mobile cs (if you speak to customer rep) so they shouldn't be charging for an 0845 call.

I would imagine getting charged 0845 rates is a fault. Trouble is you will have to talk to them again to sort it out. Unless anyone knows a better way.

They certainly shouldn't be showing up as an 0845 number if you calling them from your Mobile

I called 2 or 3 weeks ago to arrange PAC code. It charged 10p per call.

Re: Naughty! Naughty! Using Virgin Mobile to call 789....
I have called 789 every day for the past three weeks [tariff change problems] and my account [online] shows them as 10p. Some lasted nearly an hour and involved call centres in S Africa - still only 10p.

Re: Naughty! Naughty! Using Virgin Mobile to call 789....
Thanks to all that have responded. Finally got this sorted out, sort of. Virgin insist that there is no mistake in the billing, but subsequent 789 calls have been at the correct/zero rate when applicable . I'm told that there is no possibility of a refund I guess it's one to chalk up to experience!
