Re: 48 Olympic channels.
Saying Sky couldn't restrict them if they wanted to is silly. Sky could of not provided the capacity if they didn't want to. Virgin were ready to restrict the extra Olympic coverage to TiVo remember.
Sky provided the capacity for 48 channels free of charge knowing they would have to be given free to air to all. No matter how hard you try you can't put negative spin on this. Especially when you consider virgin tried to restrict access to TiVo only.

Maybe, but from Sky I only have what is Free to Air and Free to View using Sky boxes and dishes that would otherwise be scrapped, and have never directly paid anything to Sky! And installation is a doddle for the average DIYer
There are a tremendous amount of SD channels available free on Sky without need for subscription or even a FreeSatFromSky viewing card

Wrong yet again. See my post here.
If you think we really did pull it out of the hat in two weeks, you've obviously got a higher opinion of VM than I have.

Let's not try and pretend that Sky are doing this out of the goodness of their hearts.
They aren't. They are doing this because they saw (even if VM didn't) that having the 24 channels available in both HD and SD is a major selling point, and they figured it is probably cheaper to provide carriage for the channels for free than risk a mass customer exodus.

You had to pull out he bag in 2 weeks like it or lump it else risk a mass exodus to Sky. Also why else make a big deal about the only place to see the content was via the TiVo app if you weee ways providing linear channels?VM would of known about the 48 channels the same day freesat, BBC, an Sky did so you all have the same amount of time. I think sky had more work to create them thn Virgin did streaming them all vm do is redistribute the Sky provided sat streams.

Re: 48 Olympic channels.
Why don't you just go and watch the splendid coverage of the Olympics on whatever platform of your choice instead of wasting time arguing the very pointless circular argument you just lost?

In my defence, I didn't even notice there was an argument

Evidence of what? If you've left sky but still have the equipment can you watch the Olympic channels for free? YES
If you have frees at can you watch the Olympic channels for free? Yes
If you have Left virginmedia but still have a box can you watch the Olympic channels for free? NO
That's just fact no need to provide evidence but virginmedias increasing obvious desperation is becoming embarrassing.

Just as you cannot watch any other channels on it because you have stopped subscribing. Try watching a Sky-specific channel (Sky1) without a sub and see what happens
You cannot compare SATELLITE TV with VM. (Well, you could try but you'd only make yourself look silly. This thread being a case in point )
You can only directly compare SKY TV (ie the subs-based service) with VM.

That would the box that you are supposed to return to virgin or is that a third party box you are not allowed to connect to virgins network?
Second question, how does any of this show increasing desperation.
Look I can string disparate facts together as well.
The inability to watch recorded programmes after cancelling a channel or contract shows how Sky's increasingly obvious desperation is becoming embarrassing. They'll go to any length to keep you in contract, i mean if they let you watch after cancelling it would be a mass exodus.
