Here is a bit about what is happening, it is a corporate rebrand rather than a channel rebrand which is possible in the future if they do decide to ditch the Eurosport brand (with the demise/rebrand of Sky One by Sky anything could happen nowadays)

I wonder if morphing Eurosport into the Discovery brand is a precursor to putting Eurosport onto Discovery+? Maybe it will be standalone or a discount will be available if both genres are purchased??
Some years ago I was privy to a document that showed that the eventual aim was for Discovery to close all their linear channels, apart from one, which would be used to showcase their content which would only be available on their own streaming service.
There was no mention of Eurosport.
Since then Discovery+ has been created, where all new content is shown first, and FTA channels have been created.
As these rely on ad revenue, I can't see them closing these, but i've no idea what they will do.

Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2021)
Eurosport is now an integral part of Discovery+ And costs a few quid extra a month.
You can no longer purchase a sub to Eurosport Player

No surprised, they have not pushed Eurosport Player since just before the Olympics. The commentators only mention Discovery+ and GCN+ these days.

Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2021)
My subscription to Eurosport+ ends in June 2022 - just logged out and signing in with a different name it asked for a £4.99pm subscription. But no annual offering which was normally available for £19.99.

Thanks. I think it's now becoming clear what their strategy is.

Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2021)
Ofcom wants BBC Three to get the following channels on Virgin Media:
Assumed EPG positions for BBC Three by nation
England: Virgin Channel 108.
Scotland: Virgin Channel 124.
Wales: Virgin Channel 124.
N. Ireland: Virgin Channel 108.
If so that mean we will see BBC Four listed before BBC Three on the Virgin EPG!!!!
Have Media Boy HQ work of what may happen to GOLD HD (On Channel 124 right now):
NOW:
124. GOLD HD
125. W
126. Alibi
127. Dave
128. Really
167. TLC HD
168. ID
169. Quest HD
170. Quest Red
171. DMAX
172. TLC +1
173. ID +1
213. Quest +1
214. DMAX +1
If Ofcom get their way:
124. Free Channel in England and N. Ireland
124. BBC Three HD (Scotland and Wales only)
125. GOLD HD
126. W
127. Alibi
128. Dave
129. YESTERDAY
130. Drama
131. Dave ja vu
167. TLC HD
168. ID
169. Quest HD
170. Quest Red
171. DMAX
172. Really
173. TLC +1
213. ID +1
214. Quest +1
215. DMAX +1
If Discovery axe all Linear channels by then:
124. Free Channel in England and N. Ireland
124. BBC Three HD (Scotland and Wales only)
125. GOLD HD
126. W
127. Alibi
128. Dave
129. YESTERDAY
130. Drama
131. Dave ja vu

I beat you to this one 4 days ago MB
Post 1490 on this thread.
Ofcom have stated that it may launch further up the EPG initially and within 18 months it would have to be moved.
It is defo unfair on the other broadcasters as in theory the BBC etc could launch as many channels as they want and they would take prominence over established privately owned broadcasters.

Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2021)
So it looks like E4 won't have to move after all.
It would make more sense to give BBC3 107 and move BBC4 to 108.

So we will see BBC Four listed before BBC Three on the EPG. All we need to now is for ITV4 to come before ITV on the EPG.

Or maybe move BBC1 HD to channel 101 and scrap the standard definition version. This will be possible when the remaining BBC1 regions go HD in October.
That would leave channel 108 free.
