Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8
Mother in law (aged 92, in a care home) had a fall last night (we got a call at 1am this morning), and she was taken to hospital with a suspected arm fracture.
Good news - it’s not fractured, but first bit of bad news was they were concerned about her breathing, and initial checks showed she had a chest infection.
As the Elderly Medicine Unit in Leeds is at St James (and she was at LGI), she was transferred this afternoon - we have just found out she has tested COVID positive, so she is being transferred to a COVID ward at St Jimmy’s.
We’re a bit broken up about this news...

Not good news for you and your family.
I know it must be hard Hugh but if she had not fallen she could have remained in the Care Home and the Covid-19 may not have been picked up as soon. At least she is in the right place to get medical support and fingers crossed she could be out by Christmas. <<hugs>> to you all at this worrying time.

All the best Hugh, I've only had dealings with the Bexley Wing but if the staff there are anything to go by she couldn't be in better hands.

My mother had a fall earlier this year and is a similar age. Broke her hip, which us not good news that age, and was in hospital for weeks. We couldn't visit because of covid. Couldn't get her to work phones/ webcam as she has dementia. Nightmare situation and we feared the worst, but she has recovered.
Best of luck. Even most elderly folks recover from covid. Hope you can make some sort of contact.

Hope things work out OK. If there were no COVID symptoms that sounds promising. Our best wishes.

Gosh Hugh what a shock, she is in the right hands thankfully and will make a complete recovery, God willing.
My pathetic moan in comparison is it is tonight's weather, rain is banging against the windows, it's a wild night out there. My thoughts are always with the homeless at these times.

I sympathise with what you are going through Maggy.
I don't get out often other than to hospital but I have still had to resort to a glasses Cord. Nothing I have tried has stopped my glasses steaming up so am forever taking them on and off and untill I got the cord I had managed to leave my glasses at the hospital 3 times, flung them across the car park when I ripped my face mask off and sat on them when I forgot I had put the in my back pocket. I am down to my last pair !!

Try pushing the nose part of the mask tight and breathing through your mouth

Thanks for wanting to help Daddy. Tried all the tips and tricks and nothing keeps my glasses fog free, even tried 3D plastic brackets but just ended up with a sore cut nose and an unflattering elastoplast.. <big oweeeeee, naughty naughty plastic>
Simplist solutuion is a glasses cord so I can take off my glasses off but not lose or break them as a result.

It's funny because I had to drive with a mask on for some reason I can't remember a while back with glasses on and every time I breathed out they steamed up but every time I breathed in it cleared it, hyperventilating might be the answer if the Hinge and Bracket jokes get to much or the cord lets to down

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8
I've just tried some windscreen anti-mist liquid (For rejuvenating anti-mist cloths). Better but not perfect. Not steaming up but blobby liquid on the lens. Once the lenses are warm it works fine.
