One thing I never understand with some people. Why they change number so much.
I can understand if you are trying to get someone bad out of your life (e.g. to prevent an ex contacting you), or if you are into something dodgy, but some of my friends have had several numbers now, and none of them have dodgy ex's, or are into any dodgy stuff. In fact one I can think of very definitely has a dodgy ex, and she hasn't changed her number.
I've had mobiles since about 1997. I'm on my second number. The only reason I'm on my second is because I was stupid enough to believe a friend when he said he had an easier way for me to keep my number when switching networks and it failed spectacularly, losing me the original number. In his, and my, defence, this was back in about 2002, when it wasn't as easy to port your number.

Re: Facebook Rebranding
People didnt care so much about their number changing in the early days of mobile.
In the UK, Mobile Number Porting has only been available since 2003.
All my immediate family have all had their current numbers since around 2007.
My wife is the only one of us who has only ever had one number (hers dates from around 2004).

Re: Facebook Rebranding
First Mobile Number Porting was in 1999 (I know this because I worked at Ventura at the time, and we set up and handled the process for BT Cellnet (as was) - I was in charge of the team who set up the infrastructure (at the Wath-On-Dearne offices, or as we called it, Death-on-Warne…)).
It was a very ‘hands-on" manual process, involving Customer Service Reps taking the requests from the customers over the phone, logging them onto a system, then printing off those details and faxing them to BT Cellnet.
When I left Ventura to join BT Cellnet, I took my work number with me and transferred it to my wife (as it was an easily remembered number, ending in 3333), so she has had the same number for over 21 years, and I kept the number I had at BT Cellnet when I left (again, because it was a "Gold" number, easily remembered), so have had the same number over 21 years.
Even why I had work phones (which I did all the time), I kept a personal account for continuity of family/friends contacts.

Re: Facebook Rebranding
I was referring to the current system, using PAC codes, not any previous manual system, which was generally unknown to the masses.
