Router Suggestions?

Hi Guys,

Had a look at the FAQ but seems to be a bit out dated?

Anyway, looking to replace my old Linksys 54G, (flashed with Tomato) mainly because it's only 100MB hub.
I was looking at the DrayTek 29xx series and wondering how good are they?
Or any other suggestions please

Musts are;
1 - Gigabit Hub
2 - Good Wireless
3 - Syslog
4 - Time restrictions
5 - Logging bandwidth via CIFS

Thanks in advance!

Re: Router Suggestions?

I use a DrayTek at home and think it is an excellent bit of kit, I have no regrets with buying it whatsoever. I also installed one at a friends business for him when he asked me for some advice on what to get.

For home use I suppose it is a bit of overkill, but as I like playing with things I am quite happy. Also means with the 3 wireless networks I can have the main one with full access to everything, then one for the kids with limited access to other network devices and a guest one with only internet access.

I happily recommend them, and got my original recommendation from reading this site a couple of years ago, oh and at last look it had been up and running for over 1000hrs without a reboot!!

Excellent news! Glad to hear a good review for DrayTek.
By the way, which model is it?

Re: Router Suggestions?

Thanks to all who took the time to reply.
I've downloaded the manuals for the DrayTek, and to be honest, they are way overkill for what I need.
I've finally settled on the ASUS N-16 router, as it can take DD-WRT, and gives all I need for a reasonable price.
Cheers.

Re: Router Suggestions?

Great! I use Tomato on my old Linksys at present, and it's really good.
When I looked on the Tomato site, I didn't see any mention of the Asus RT-N16 Router, so I assumed it didn't work.
I'll investigate further

Re: Router Suggestions?

Had a look around and it looks like TomatoUSB with VPN is the one for me.
I've used Tomato on my old Linksys for ages and I'm very happy with it. I've never used DD-WRT, so I think I'll stick to what I know.
Thanks again to all who replied ....
