Netgear MR814 NTL problems

Hi

Just got a netgear mr814 wireless router to link up to my existing NTL/Virgin 2mb broadband connection which uses an NTL 250 modem.

The first time i hooked it all up, all was well, I could browse the web from my wireless laptop and also view shared files on the desktop etc, after a few hours the connection dropped and I can longer 'see' the router from my desktop (192.168.0.1) i get page cannot be displayed.

The connection direct from NTL modem to desktop with ethernet cable works as usual but as soon as i add the netgear into the mix everything dies! Tried hard reset on router and powering up in specific order but to no avail.

From what i can gather from browsing this forum it appears to be an issue of the router not getting the correct address from the NTL modem, but i cant get to the router config page to change any settings!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated..
