Yes, but repeats do not add value. Take away the repeats from scheduled TV and you will have a lot fewer channels while losing nothing.

Also the BBC Scotland broadcasting BBC Two thing may not happen on July 31st after all as my Freeview TV Set EPG says "This is BBC Scotland" and the listings for BBC Scotland on the BBC web site says that BBC Scotland will just join up with BBC Two when BBC Two joins BBC News overnights.
|
They'd be better showing This Is BBC Scotland as it's better for the transmission of other channels on the relevant multiplex.
When Prince Phillip died and all the BBC channels started showing the same thing they ended up taking some channels off-air to stop the ill-affects of what happens when all channels show the same thing on a multiplex. At least that was what I heard from some techy folk, who are more techy than me, at the time.
Not that this is really a problem as BBC Scotland channel doesn't have the ten zillion regional variations of BBC1 which was part of the problem on some platforms at that time.
Anyways I'm blabbing in my own wee world offtopic. Ignore me.

They do for people that don't see things the first time around, or aren't techy, or have internet.
I know many people that have discovered shows a long time past original transmission, and can't use on-demand.
Everyone uses TVs differently.

Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2021)
The schedules up to 7th Aug do not show BBC2 being carried on BBC Scotland.
They are still as usual 7pm to midnight only then 'This is BBC Scotland' from midnight to 7pm.

Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2021)
From August 9th the listings for Eurosport UHD and Eurosport 3 to 9 HD Channels all say coming soon so it maybe nothing but when the channel closes Virgin EPG say "Channel No Longer Available" or is Virgin set to launch 7 HD Channels and an UHD Channel?
Here is the make up list of channels that may launch after August 9th.
Sky Sports UHD
1) Create & Craft HD
2) Ideal World HD
3) MUTV HD
4) CNBC HD
5) Nick Jr. HD
6) Boomerang HD
7) CNN International HD
Or Virgin can reuse the slots to launch 8 SD Channels:
GREAT! movies action +1
GREAT! movies classic +1
GREAT! movies +1
POP Max
POP Max +1
POP +1
Tiny Pop +1
B4U Plus or Nick Jr. +1

Or perhaps they will be use for the Paralympic Games later in August?

Discovery will show Olympic until 2024 and also sub-license the rights to BBC.

Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2021)
C4 will have 16 streams - so perhaps they plan to put some on satellite and cable.

I have not see reports yet on anything testing on Sky from Channel 4. Unless they close their music channels for the few weeks.

Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2021)
I've never known 'Coming Soon' to be displayed in the EPG when a channel is being changed from one to another.
If they do the same on Sky they could use the existing Eurosport streams there.
But your list of HD channels would be nice.

Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2021)
I didn't realise there was a Eurosport On-demand area until I noticed the Catch Up With Tokyo 2020 at the bottom of my V6 Home menu.
Bound to disappear after Olympics. Shame.

It reads to me like Sky has basically moved all Sky Original shows to Sky Max and Showcase will basically be showing bits from all the other channels.
They don't mention Sky Replay but Sky Showcase sounds like Replay in concept, even though it's getting Sky 1's slot on Satellite. So maybe Replay is being axed? Pick is basically SkyReplay+1or2Years, so isn't really needed, so it makes sense to me.
They mention Sky Originals going to Sky Max but not what is happening to all the 3rd party imports like The Flash, Supergirl, Legends Of Tomorrow etc. Are they being rehomed or are they being cut loose?
Wednesday 1st September is the date given.
---------- Post added at 00:54 ---------- Previous post was at 00:47 ----------
I wonder if VM will think "What's the point of Sky Showcase? We'd rather have Max and/or Atlantic".
If Showcase is going to show content from all Sky's channels, VM customers will get a selection of Atlantic content via it if Showcase is directly replacing Sky1.
Since this is all 2 months away presumably VM will know about this all already since it involves a service they carry ending.
