Help with belkin router

Hi I have a belkin modem/router F5D8632UK4A.

I have set it up to virgin media and it works find when I use the direct cable to the computer. The trouble is that the comp is having to move and I want it to go wireless. I have tried to set it up for wireless by installing a belkin usb adapter and unplugging the direct cable from the router to the computer. It works fine for a few minutes and then nothing. Signal is ok just no transmission of data.

When I switch I disable the local area connection in the network connection tab on the control panel.

Also the belkin wireless networking utility that is installed with the usb adapter doesn't seem to do anything except show ! between the computer and router and another ! between the router and internet.

please can anyone help

mac

Re: Help with belkin router

There is now need to disable the connection when you're not using it

Have you tried going into settings on the Belkin network utilty and unticking the box which says something along the lines of 'allow this utilty to manage wireless network'.
Once you have done that, windows should take over managing the connection.

Re: Help with belkin router

Have tried that none of the settings can be changed they are greyed out. Tried your first suggestion and still the same after a couple of minutes the flow just stops but the info panel says the connection is ok.
thanks for your time

Re: Help with belkin router

I'm on ADSL and it's a modem/router. Have tried installing the belkin usb adapter for the wireless comp in safe mode and the belkin networking utillity hasn't appeared but the adapter is working for now I will time it as it usually stops after a couple of minutes.

Re: Help with belkin router

which USB adapter is it? also which OS are you running on the pc? If the driver is being recognised then you can always use the Windows wireless client utility (only works if you use XP or Vista)
