netbios slow file sharing

netbios slow file sharing

guys im file sharing wirlessly using dhcp as installed netbios protocol but it takes forever to transfer files!!!! any ideas onhow i can speed up file sharing??????

what kind of speeds are we talking about?
also depends on the speed of your wifi and harddisks.

Sharing files over wi-fi normally does take ages. Even with brilliant signal. Never seems to be anywhere near 54mbps, even with full signal.

hard drives are standard maxtor 7200rpm, wifi is 54mbps (i think) for eg im transferring a 3gb file takes about 1-2hrs, when i first set this up i was transferring 2-3 gb files in 30 mins now for some reason its slowing down. accessing the net is no probs jus transfer of files is annoying
