Re: Snow !
Where did this white stuff come from. It never featured in any forecast I saw or heard. Rain yes, but snow in Surrey was not part of the game plan. That was all supposed to stay well north of here.

Reminds me of the forecast we had down here of light scattered snow showers once and we ened up with a blizzard for most of the day.

During the BBC weather report around midnight there was an off the cuff remark that there might possibly be some minor snow showers in the south east but the majority were likely to be in the Midlands.

Re: Snow !
Apparently there's a cold blast from Russia coming over the next few days so heads up to anyone concerned about elderly/infirm relatives and friends in the impending cold snap, instead of spending money on grit for icy paths etc, (unused!) cat litter does exactly the same job and is a hell of a lot cheaper and you normally get much more in a bag too. Even the supermarket's cheap 'value' brands do the job.
---------- Post added at 08:56 ---------- Previous post was at 08:49 ----------
Example - Grit from Asda (£2.49 for 2kg)
Smartprice Cat Litter (£1.58 for 10lt)

Re: Snow !
That does work out cheaper but 25kg may be a little heavy for some elderly people...

Re: Snow !
We buy a few 25kg bags from either Wicks or B & Q depending on where is cheapest and split them up between our neighbours. Us 'younger' ones do our own drives and paths plus the areas around our 'older' and less able neighbours homes. It only cost us a few quid each and keeps everyone safe. The lot we have now we bought a couple of years ago after the last big freeze depleted our stock and I'm hoping we won't have too much cause to use it this year.
Wikes are selling it at £4.99 (25kg) at the moment.
