Higgins gone snooker Loopy?
Quote:
Snooker world number one John Higgins has reportedly agreed to take a £261,000 bribe to lose frames in four separate matches later this year.

What a pair of absolute plonkers.
They can make all the excuses they want about fearing for their safety but what the hell were they doing in shady hotel rooms with supposedly shady people over in the Ukraine in the first place?
Assuming all is as it seems i wonder if Higgins will receive the same punishment as Quinten Hann did?
Oh well, hopefully his fellow countryman will set a better example as Champion if he wins tomorrow.

Re: Higgins gone snooker Loopy?
What an absolute disgrace this guy is if this is true. He has more than enough money to live comfortably for the rest of his life, it`s not like his career is going to end in a year or two.
Complete and utter greedy rob-dogs, they should be banned from the sport for life and have to walk around with a sign on stating i will cheat for money
The cheek to make out like they didn`t have a choice is absurd, no wonder he lost to Steve Davis (maybe that was fixed)

Re: Higgins gone snooker Loopy?
Innocent until proven guilty and all that but it doesn't make for good reading. Especially as the Maguire/Burnett thing is still ongoing.

If found guilty he should get a life ban.

Anybody concerned that the News of the World seem more interested in making the news with these entrapment operations than actually reporting the news.
I mean you never see stories of praise when the intended victim refuses the bribe. But I don't suppose that would sell many papers.

Re: Higgins gone snooker Loopy?
They didn't just pick his name out of a hat. Could it be, that if he hasn't thrown a frame/match before, it's simply because nobody has asked him to before now?

Re: Higgins gone snooker Loopy?
After seeing the footage on sky news last week of the "alleged" bribe meeting" Mr.Higgins body language didn't look like someone who felt threatened to me,if it is proven it's such a shame for the sport on a whole.

And if he felt threatened did he mention to anyone in the governing body that he had been approached by the 'Russian Mafia' and was asked to throw games.

Re: Higgins gone snooker Loopy?
And he seemed more worried about how to hide the money than just getting the deal done and getting out.

Re: Higgins gone snooker Loopy?
If you find a problem which would prevent you from doing something you don't actually want to do, you don't come up with, never mind admit to, a solution to that problem.

Re: Higgins gone snooker Loopy?
Found not-guilty of match fixing but guilty of other charges by the snooker authorities.
Suspended from competition till the beginning of November and fined £75,000
