The question to be asked is how many have access to fibre broadband. Although increasing is still woefully behind other countries.
Johnson being economical with the truth? Who'd have thought it, Pierre?

Why are we "woefully behind other countries"?

Re: VM upgrading its HFC to gigabit capability

I thought VM has basically completed this.

I'm not clear what the point of this topic is ?

As to fibre - well I now have FTTP as an option as well.

Me neither.

VM has completed the upgrade of it's network gigabit capable. The HFC on DOCSIS 3.1 can deliver up to 10G, so plenty of headroom.

VM are now concentrating on overbuilding their HFC to Fibre, and that's a 5year + project, as well as doing new build FTTP.

At the moment their FTTP is using RFoG which basically just replicates HFC capability over Fibre.

but they will start to move over to XGSPON which will improve upload speeds.

we are behind in FTTP terms not speed terms.
