That may predispose us to assume such events did happen but should not lead us to absolutely conclude that they did.

So my approach to your question is different than yours. You approach it scientifically and conclude that nothing known to science could cause a disembodied hand to write a warning of future events on a wall that soon after came true. People of faith approach the story with due regard for its heritage, its genre and the intent of its authors and editors and ask, amongst other things, if it’s intended as a historical account of events, and if the things it recounts are internally consistent with the book it is found in (Daniel in this case) and in the wider collection of books we call the Bible.

I should point out that the entire Christian faith hangs on a supernatural occurrence - that Jesus really did get executed by hanging him on a Roman cross until he was dead, and that on the third day after they nailed him up, he rose from the dead. On that basis you shouldn’t be surprised that Christians tend to believe not everything can be known via the scientific method (which was devised by a monk incidentally)

However, we are several light years off topic so perhaps best let it rest there.
Pity this isn't a theological thread. Much debate could be enjoyed.

This is the closest you get to theology - an EU thread. In centuries time descendants of Mick, Chris, Mr K and Andrew will still be here debating the merits of it.

Slightly more probable than the US trade deal plugged way back by some on this thread, though.

That’s because it is, in this case. Trump was going to push the deal through within the first months of his second term, which he was utterly convinced he would get, whereas Biden is not interested in trade deals….according to Biden.

By that logic had we not had Brexit then this wouldn’t be an issue at all. But, in both cases, what happened, happened.

So, now in both situations we have to manage/deal with the situation.

And already, we have released all restrictions on beef and lamb exports to the US and we have achieved Aukus, potentially worth billions to this country.

We are doing all right, with or without a US trade deal.

So your complaint about Biden is basically null & void if ‘we’re doing alright’

Actually, he first said he was going to do it in late 2016…

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/201...donald-trumps/

Then in early 2017 it wasn’t going to happen…

The Times revealed on Saturday that senior officials from the US, UK and EU believed that Europe had moved ahead of Britain in the queue for trade talks. A source close to the White House said that the Trump administration had come to a “realisation” that a deal with the EU was more important to US interests than a post-Brexit deal with Britain.

Mr Ross’s stance marks a change in position in the White House since President Trump said in January that he wanted to sign a trade deal with Britain quickly because it was “good for both sides”.

Except maybe we could have done better. How many contortions are you prepared to perform just to embarrass yourself even more?
