Or possibly another truncated, one sided affair.

England have now lost all ten wickets in a single session for the third time in the last two years, something that had not happened for the previous seventy eight years. An indictment of T20 if ever there was one.

l am a lover of test cricket but it does not bring in the money like T2O does and that ain't going to be changing IMO.

Well yes, and the batting coach, Mark Ramprakash. He was rubbish as a Test batsman and unsurprisingly no better as a coach, he needs to go. Time for Cook to call it a day too.

But most of the T20 cricket is at county level Jim and the county clubs see it as a very nice cash earner for them.

Well I have been to several T20 games this season and watched a few on TV. Apart from the Roses match the crowds have not been great.

Perhaps you need to emigrate move down south as the crowds seem bigger down here as my Dad and brother have been to several games and its been pretty packed.

Re: English cricket hits rock bottom again !

No thanks, that just proves that aficionados of ‘proper’ cricket live in the North.

The last couple of games I watched on TV where in the Southern group and the grounds were both less than a third full.

Even those figures in that Telegraph article extrapolate to less than 2500 people per game on average. Granted more than most four day county games but hardly a revolution.

Ramps had a pretty ordinary international career but his first class record was phenomenal. For whatever reason it just didn't work out internationally. The tactical awareness of the game was clearly there so he would have been well suited to being a batting coach.

And of course, everyone remembers that catch...

There's the here and now Chloe, and he's failed in his job.
Get Boycott in. They wouldn't dare play loose shots if he was waiting for them in the pavilion

To me there are several problems as first of all l don't see Joe Root as a good captain of England as thus so far he has been deeply unconvincing.

True but in his successes, he seems to be well qualified for the job. At least IMO.

I agree with your larger point though.

No, he would be caring about his average....or umm complaining that beefy ran him out.

Or something.
