buying a Linksys WRT54GC do i need a...
extra usb dongle to use the wifi or is it built in? because if that is the case i can sell my nintendo wifi adapter.

The wireless signal will come straight from the router.
As long as your laptop has wireless built in or your PC has a wireless card in it you will be fine and they can communicate with the router.
You can also connect to it by cable too. You have both options.

that's the thing, my pc doesn't have any wireless adapters or cards built in (apart from the nintendo wifi usb dongle), and i will be using the wireless for the consoles and DS only, not my pc, and i do not have a laptop either.

If I understand correctly, the USB dongle allows you to play your consoles and DS through your PC that is connected to the Internet.
Now that you have the router, you should be able to connect the DS and console directly to the wireless router as they have their own built in wireless capabilities.
Just give it a try and see if it works.

ah ok, i guess i will, if it all goes well then i can sell the usb wifi dongle off, thanks for the help
