Freeview Plus Box Problems
hello the other day i switched on my alba freeview recorder box but it would not turn on i have tried all the methods around trying to get it to work but no such look.
the problem is i switch it on from the wall socket but no red or green light will come on and nothing will come on the display screen on the box were the time and channel name would display, but you can still hear the hard drive start up on the box and if i leave it on you can still hear the box is switched on, anyone have any ideas please.
thanks

Re: Freeview Plus Box Problems
Depends how old it is, what you paid for it and whether there's anything on the hard drive you really want to keep ...

Re: Freeview Plus Box Problems
In which case, I think you should just ditch it, as fixing it will cost you almost as much as buying a new one. If you have the spare cash in these straitened post-Christmas times, perhaps consider moving up the quality stakes a bit - like a Humax, AFAIK they're pretty good.

Re: Freeview Plus Box Problems
I've got a Humax HD-HDR-Fox-T2 - really great box, works flawlessly.
You should be able to rescue the HDD from the Alba. Maybe reformat it and stick it in a USB caddy as a bit of spare storage. And you also might find if there is anything recorded it's probably in regular .ts files that you can convert to video, if you do want to keep it.
