Major Fire at Bilsdale

The transmitting mast at Bilsdale, which serves Teeside & most of North & East Yorkshire has suffered a major fire.

One of the transmitter buildings has been severely damaged & there was also fire in the lower stage of the mast itself. There are fears that the mast may be structurally compramised.

All services are currently off air.

Many of the local relays that rely on Bilsdale have had their feeds hastily re-engineered onto Pontop Pike. The Eston Nab relay has currently been re-allocated Bilsdales TV frequencies & the transmit logs repositioned to serve as much of Middlesborough & Stockton as is feasable at this time.

This happened days ago, I believe some customers have had some service restored since then.

Re: Major Fire at Bilsdale

The fire occured on Tuesday & there are currently still site access issues. Services have only been restored by the measures already mentioned, plus some temporary kit that has been despatched to the area.
