UPDATE on your question Media Boy.

FreeSports wasn't on Freesat anymore, but apparently, according to Juste_Lenoir on Digital Spy, it's now been encrypted. So now is FTV rather than FTA on Satellite.

Haven't had a chance to check myself.

I've seen several others on other threads confirm the Freesports change on Satellite.

I'm guessing it's yet again a cash saving measure, maybe to pay for a permanent slot on DTT after COM7 closes soon.

Re: A thread for FreeSat changes

Out of curiousity I just checked. I can still view Freesports via Manual tuning on my Freesat box. I'm doing so as I type this.

Either the change was made to a different feed, there is an Irish ad version I believe, or it's changed back to FTA.

Re: A thread for FreeSat changes

Spotlight TV has now closed on both Freesat & Sky.

The channel will remain operational as part of Channel Box on Freeview 271, & is likely to take a permanent streamed EPG slot in the near future.

Have the SD versions been removed or moved elsewhere?

Still on those same channel numbers for those with SD-only Freesat boxes.

They are hidden from HD boxes.

Re: A thread for FreeSat changes

To be honest it shouldn’t be an issue, if you connect a Freesat box to a TV via an HDMI cable, the TV will show the channel at the best resolution it can cope with. And if you have a Freesat box with a SCART or composite connections then the box will downscale the channel before sending it to the TV.

Indeed. Richard likes recording SD to save on box space though.

Re: A thread for FreeSat changes

Not normally. Freesat boxes are pretty good at doing this automatically. Freesat has maintained pretty close control over the technical standards box manufacturers have to meet in order to carry the logo.

What Chris said. Most boxes will update pretty quickly. There are some old boxes that only did it overnight, but you'd only have to worry about that if you were given an old device.

The SD versions will all be removed by the end of March. So anyone with an SD only Freesat receiver will no longer be able to receive these BBC services after the end of March.

I have a 2016 Manhattan HD box. After BBC1 East HD was turned on my box insisted on giving me BBC2 Wales HD on 102, even after a reboot. I had to do a rescan to get the correct BBC2.
