Re: bbc loses motogp
The BBC apart from some major events has literally nothing left now and is basically a fifth rate sports channel now compared to Sky

how long till they have nothing? footy gone, rugby gone, f1 near enough gone & now motop. all they'll be left with is wimbledon wombles every year and the world & euro cups every 2 years.
not even really 5th rate that, and it doesn't seem as if the beeb are worried or care about it.

They are more worried about putting on their silly reality shows then putting some decent stuff on now.

Better bloody not. But if they do then i will just drop Sky sports. I only watch superleague.
I have been saying for a while now that the BBC are useless as far as sports coverage goes. There coverage of the Challenge cup is awfully bad and 2 years ago they were covering a semi final and changed channels at half time IE first half on bbc1 then the second half on BBC2 and never warned anyone they were doing it. Then they wondered why they were inundated with complaints.

Well let's hope Sky get the Eurovision in the next few years..I'm loving the Beeb at the moment but then I'm not a sports fan.

Re: bbc loses motogp
The BBC's coverage of the Eurovision song contest stems from its membership of the European Broadcasting Union, whose competition it is. The BBC can't 'lose' the contest, it would have to choose to walk away - which IMO is what it is doing with sports coverage. The licence fee is not a bottomless pit of money and sports rights are really quite expensive these days because the specialist sports channels are willing to pay through the nose for them.

Re: bbc loses motogp
Its a crazy move by Dorna, MotoGP was getting more followers while it's been on the Beeb, especially with the increased number of British riders in the three classes.
Dorna claim they want to improve the audience, and then go with BT, sheer madness

If all the BBC cares about is quality programmes watched by large numbers of people, it can't be going too far wrong.
There comes a point where some sports are too niche and/or too expensive for the BBC to be spending its finite resources on.
I'm sure it's annoying for Moto GP fans, but then 20 years ago it was annoying for football fans too. I can assure you, if you make the licence fee into a voluntary subscription, or else scrap it and make the BBC get by on ad revenue like ITV, there will be a whole lot less sport of any kind on the BBC, not more.
