Watch Repair

I have a Casio watch which is about 6 years old and the battery has gone in it.

I took it to local market to have a new battery but they told me if they open it the waterproof seal will be broken and need repairing but they do not offer that sort of repair.

Does anyone know who does this sort of repair or if there's a way of sending to Casio for repair?.

The watch was bought in H Samuel but I don't know if they offer this service either.

Any help would be great
Thanks

Re: Watch Repair

I’ve never had any bother getting watch batteries replaced at any Timpson’s franchise. They’re in most shopping centres. They should have a pressure vessel on hand to test that the waterproof seal is still functional after they reassemble the watch.

They wanted over £22 to replace the battery but a new watch was about £10

Re: Watch Repair

£10 for a new watch?

Timpsons have never charged me more than £5 for fitting a new battery for my wife’s watches (my watch is automatic).

What sort of watch are you getting for £10 and is it really equivalent to the water-resistant Casio that needs the battery?

I have a water resistant Casio with a 10-year battery in it that cost about £50-60 new. Battery is approaching 8 years old and it’s still running. If it costs only £20 to get a new 10-year battery I’d still pay that. I guarantee you your £10 watch won’t keep accurate time, won’t be very water resistant and its battery won’t last 6 years.

Yes, I have that challenge as well - the last service was over £300, and that was over 7 years ago (so I’m sure it will have increased by now…

Re: Watch Repair

I 'retired' my watch last year as I fancied a Ticwatch which was £280 and way cheaper than getting my other watch serviced (was gaining and the self-winder has stuck). Will maybe get it done later in the year fuel bills allowing!

I bought a Casio LCD [F-91W] in 2016 for £8.72.
Weird amount I know, it was from Amazon, and I got £5 off as well, making it £3.72
Its still water resistant (in the shower anyway) and still running on its original battery.
Its not spectacularly accurate, it gains about 8 seconds a month, so I reset back 2/3 times a year.

Re: Watch Repair

Casio seem a reliable solid brand, both my Son and his Partner also have Casio watches and are very happy with them.
