You will still be subject to the new price rise system from April, which is why they've sent it.
With this new system, I can't see much less than an 8% rise.

is it not still RPI + 3% which equals a lot more than 8% and they screw you by calculating it on pre discount prices

Customers who were subject to the price rise earlier in the year also had the T&C change notification at the same time as have new customers who joined after the new terms came in.
This is for anyone else who hasn't previously had notification.

Thanks Ben.
Out of curiosity, on what basis were some customers excluded from price rises this year? My rise wasn't due to kick in until my discounts ended last month, but I still got the T&Cs notification in March.

I'm guessing those whose contracts expired before a certain date, mine expired at the end of July, and I didnt get any rise.

I never knew this, I assumed that the inflation busting rises would be based on the price a customer pays. This makes it even worse.
At one time you negotiated a price and that was it for 18 months. Now it's something that customers keep having to return to attend to for various reasons. They're a bloody nuisance.

They are not just a nuisance they are, in IMO "on line muggers".

Indeed. Most companies exist to make a profit, but these days they just seem to keep dreaming up new ways of hiking up bills.
Must cost them a fortune in lost income due to downgrades & cancellations and the cost of staff time as customers ring in to negotiate an acceptable price.

Ah, okay yes that could be it.

When I renewed last month I specifically asked about this and was informed the rise would apply to the discounted price.
The T&Cs also suggest this, but are somewhat vague, so I'm still uncertain! But if it is the case, we could actually see smaller increases than previously as a result of this change.

I was going off calculations I made in April with the figure they were trying to charge me then. They wanted to increase my discounted price of £28 by £7 which is 25% a hell of a lot more than the RPI + figure at the time. I called and took the £7 discount (which they applied early giving me an extra £7 off for a couple of months)
When I renegotiate in December (contract ends January) I will be factoring in the first Aprils at least increase so will need a deal around the £22 mark. I am on 350 Volt at present so would be happy to drop down a package to achieve that price
I should only have to see 1 more 18 month contract out before FTTP is in my area so then I will be offsky like a shotsky

Re: Virgin sending new terms emails for some
Had the letter called to negotiate and as usual they could not offer me anything so I put my 30 days notice in. Maybe this is the time they let me go maybe it isnt. We shall see

TalkTalk are geniuses...
Had my VM letter today, in the same delivery TalkTalk offering their fibre services. It's all in the timing...

Re: Virgin sending new terms emails for some
Left Virgin last month and have been bombarded with spam calls ever since. They even try to use fake mobile numbers to trick you into picking up.
Took 24hrs to initiate a cancel via their whatsapp system too as the phone line kept disconnecting after an hour of hold time....
Absolutely awful company.

Same with my son, a CableFibre letter came at the exact time as VMs letter. There's a mole in VM towers. I blame BenMcr

Re: Virgin sending new terms emails for some
Just signed up to BT Essentials social Tariff 59meg speed promise which is plenty with a 17 to 19 meg upload for £20. There is a 12 month contract but it is not enforced so if VM do not make me a good offer in the next month I will leave then sign back up in 3 months as a new customer
