Smart does not mean pre-pay, there are unrelated (and was not mentioned by Dude).

Re: Smart Meters, Who Has them Now.

Our issue is a 40% jump in electricity usage from when it was installed.

How does your electricity consumption now compare with your neighbours, especially those with similar sized households?

It’s much more likely that your old meter was faulty and under-reading, than your new one is.

Re: Smart Meters, Who Has them Now.

Always a possibility that the old metre was faulty but the new one does seem to show the inverter is drawing current even in sunlight when it should power self. It was just very odd. My wife has daily readings since the panels were put in so we can see the changes. We have replaced the inverter so it wasn't that. Wonder if they have a way of metering the electricity we generate then use and are somehow billing us for that. The first smart metre was estimated 10% high and replaced.

It's just a bit "annoying" to see the increase like that. But better than them coming along, finding an issue and trying to claw back an estimate of the under billing.

If you go through the menus on the meter itself using button A to find the appropriate menu and button B to scroll through the values. There will be values for "Import kWh" power from the grid and "Export kWh" power returned to the grid. You should be able to calculate the amount of money represented.

Re: Smart Meters, Who Has them Now.

Both smart since March 2022. Only issue was I had to get a 2nd IHD, first one wasnt paired, took weeks to resolve as was excuse after excuse but eventually got it fixed.

One of best decisions made, its saved me a fair amount on energy bills.

My previous electric meter was significantly over reading as well, which I got a rebate for after a few months of smart meter readings.

Unfortunately not something we ever get to experience in the UK unless you count govt rebates.

No mate.... These smart meters are much more accurate of the power used so the result is much higher billd.. Thats why they want these used so much!!

It has nothing to do with saving ppl $$$$ like they tell people.... (Just a lie to try to get them on it)
