Re: Connect 2nd home pc to internet

It IS Belkin we're talking about here

---------- Post added at 12:50 ---------- Previous post was at 12:46 ----------

mrsmac2006 isn't using the wireless connection so it should not flash only the individual lights for each ethernet connection should flash rapidly and the WAN light blinking slowly.

---------- Post added at 12:57 ---------- Previous post was at 12:50 ----------

The WLAN light just indicates the status of the router, ie ready to accept wireless connections after a power cycle/reset.

Re: Connect 2nd home pc to internet

As I've said the wireless can't be disabled but if you have another lead use that instead, much more stable also then you can see if anyone is using the wireless connection.

---------- Post added at 13:03 ---------- Previous post was at 13:01 ----------

WLAN flashing means you are connected wirelessly, the numbered lights represent the wired connection status for each ethernet socket on the rear.

You know the lead used to connect the pc to the router, have you got 1 or 2? I know you only have one plugged in but have you any more spare?

Re: Connect 2nd home pc to internet

Crossed lines here, I think. MrsMac said she was 'using' the wireless connection, but, I think, just meant it was enabled. Incidentally, just downloaded the equivalent Belkin manual from the US site, and that DOES have the option to switch off the wireless. Seems to be just the UK version, or perhaps just V6, which doesn't have it.

Re: Connect 2nd home pc to internet

I have a cable going from the ethernat port on 1 pc to back of router
then I have cable from second pc ethernet port going into the back of the router.
I have a 3rd cable going from the modem into the back of the router.

Re: Connect 2nd home pc to internet

If you've got another then use that and disable the wireless connection on your pc, if not then you're all done.

---------- Post added at 13:21 ---------- Previous post was at 13:16 ----------

Right so 2 of the numbered lights and the WAN light should flash but not the WLAN, unless someone is actually connected to your router wirelessly.

Yep that's right so as I said before if that WLAN flashes rapidly someone's managed to connect to it and you should tell the police.
