If you had a Linksys router with speedbooster technology, then getting a wireless adaptor with the same speedbooster technology would benefit you.

Re: Wireless help

You have nothing to lose using a different make of wireless adaptor with that router as it doesn't have the linksys speedbooster built in. Just make sure you get one that's compatible with the latest 802.11g standard. That way you will benefit if you buy a more modern router that supports those standards.

I may of got out of my depth with all this as i'm not really sure about this stuff. What i thought you wanted was a router and a wireless adaptor to go with that router. I'm now unsure how old that router is so i think it's best someone helps you that has more knowledge on this subject so i don't lead you in the wrong direction. Although i think that would work fine.

My setup would be a Linksys WRT54GS router and a Linksys WUSB54G wireless adaptor.

Re: Wireless help

Paul, if I were you I wouldnt go to the route of getting an AP. get a complete new router. works alot better and you dont have to have 3 units plugged into the power socket which can sometimes be a crime in finding.

my advice is get a Linksys router they are normally pretty stable and the card you got in the HP lappy is more then likely a Intel Pro wireless 2200 B/G and those are good.

get a wlan router dont mess with AP's is my opinion.

1 of the main reasons is say you got AP of brand A and router of brand B then you would have to configure the AP in the same IP range of router B and that can be a bit messy.

Re: Wireless help

Thought it might be, I had the same problem as you!

I had to clone my mac and turn everything off several times and start them all up in sequence before mine would work!

The v7 is a load of crap though!
