Re: Earthquake in Wales
I still remember the only one I have ever felt, that was the Lincolnshire quake, 15 years ago on Monday (27th).

Re: Earthquake in Wales
I was smoking on the porch when it hit. I felt it, then the loud rumble started. It was like a convoy of loaded trucks going past at speed.
Far from the worst I've experienced.

Re: Earthquake in Wales
I remember the two earthquakes on consecutive mornings in April 2014 at our Rutland house. It was 3.8 magnitude. Definitely a shaking ripple as the wave worked its way through, preceded on both occasions by a very loud bang.

Re: Earthquake in Wales
The only earthquake I've experienced was in Greece, 15th October 1996. An hour later, I met my wife. Yes, the earth moved.

Re: Earthquake in Wales
How do we get earthquakes? We're more or less in the middle of a continental plate, aren't we?

Quite a few in the UK are due to old mines collapsing.

Well there's none of those in S Wales so you're OK.
There been over 30 earthquakes in the UK so far this year.

Re: Earthquake in Wales
When a plate shifts, everything else shifts a bit - is the gist of Paul’s link.
