Re: Linksys Router and NTL 250 MODEM
Try both ethernet cables again connecting them both to the router and to the modem and see if the network cable unplugged message changes.
If it doesn't you're looking at a new network card.

Stick it into the modem and the router only?

No, connect one end to the computer and the other end into each port on the router and then the modem. You'll be doing it twice, once with each ethernet cable again while network connections is open to see if the message changes.
You definitely enabled the connection?

Re: Linksys Router and NTL 250 MODEM
When you connected the router to the modem you said the internet light came on.
Given that connecting the computer to either the router or the modem using 2 different ethernet cables hasn't worked I think it's safe to assume your Network Card is knackered and needs replacing.
And to check again cos you still haven't answered me, is the local area connection the one that says network cable unplugged, is it enabled or does it still say disabled?

Re: Linksys Router and NTL 250 MODEM
Where you plug the ethernet cable into on the computer, when you plug it in does a small green light come on?
You could try Windows Updates incase it's a driver issue.

Re: Linksys Router and NTL 250 MODEM
The back of the computer where you've plugged the cable into, either just above or just below.
Not all computers have this wee light.

Re: Linksys Router and NTL 250 MODEM
Unless anyone reading this has any other ideas I think you need to replace the Network Card.
As you're unsure how to do this you'd be best taking it to a shop and have them do it for you.
