Listening to phone ins and reading forum posts the consensus seems to be amongst other SPL supporters that both Celtic AND Rangers are given the majority of 50-50 decisions against the smaller teams and they are frankly sick of it, guess it's the same down here with the bigger teams like Man Utd.

The Luxembourg ref disallowed a Celtic goal today, part of a now global conspiracy perhaps

Bigger teams get more decisions going for them. I'd accept that 100%.

If you have 40-50 thousand fans screaming at you that you are wrong then of course your mind might be swayed.

Re: Scottish refs vote to strike

I suppose Rangers are all innocent then, they don't cuase any problems, they dont go banana's at decisions.

If you ask me most of the aggro in Scottish football is cuased by the big two, maybe they should allow the games to go ahead without officials, so they can beat the crap out of each other, with the hatred that goes on between each club.

Re: Scottish refs vote to strike

Yes, l have been to TWO Old firm matches, and l will NEVER go again, l am married to a Glaswegion, And being a Londoner, it was disgusting, standing in the crowd and having urine running down your leg, from a fellow supporter stand near me, and standing in urine and the smell.

When you came out of the ground the fear of getting a smack from the foul language coming from rival fans, and l have been to Parkhead and Rangers grounds, when you go into the town Centre, the fear that you have to make sure where you look.

I have been invovled in aggro in the past, but that going to those game puts the fear in you, to show how bad it gets, l bought a Rangers shirt for a member of the member, he set fire to it. So you don't have to tell me anything about these clubs.

Re: Scottish refs vote to strike

a) Glaswegian, not Glaswegion
b) and how long ago was this, Arthur? - it's been a while since people stood at football matches
c) what's a "member of the member"?

Arthur, that sounds like you were unfortunate to be next to someone who didn't know the proper etiquette about close personal contact, not that that is a common ritual amongst Rangers fans (but after seeing the state they left Manchester in a few years ago, it may be correct ).

Re: Scottish refs vote to strike

I have a strange feeling that some members don't people having a go at Celtic and Rangers clubs.

Both these clubs have troublesome fans, you only have to look at the disgraceful behaviour at the Celtic fans who were having a go a the Armed services, I have a great deal of repect for clubs who bring there players under control, and some of the games that l have been between these clubs, it is crunch all the way.

I thought Spurs / Arsenal games were bad, but my god.

Some of the Celtic fans, Arthur, some of the Celtic fans........

(and in my opinion, totally disgusting behaviour - but that's just an ex-forces Glasgow Catholic's opinion)

Anyway away from the rights and wrongs of Old Firm fans the referee at the centre of all the controversy has 'retired'

Re: Scottish refs vote to strike

The respect that should be showed to officials of football matches is appalling in my view, and l am as much to blame, and l am a ref.

A major fault is that officials are not consistent enough, and an idea that the Stoke manager came up with, they should do to officials, as what happens with the clubs.
If the they don't perform, at the end of the season - relegate them to the lower leagues, but l believe the prem refs are run by a company, and the champ is run by the league, the same as scottish football - what does members think.
