Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming

Hi,

First post here so please be kind.

I have an Xbox 360 and i want to get it up and running wirelessly.

I bought a Netgear WGT624v3 the other day there. The broadband provider is NTL with the 3 in one package.

I'm having no end of troubles here.

I'm assuming the modem plugs into the internet cable on the router, attach an ethernet cable from the router to the PC and install the software??

Then buy an xbox 360 wireless gaming adaptor and try to establish a connection.

The dude at PC world said the Netgear model should be excellent with NTL.

However, i have 2 problems........

1) i don't have the wireless adaptor yet.

2) When all is connected, the internet on the pc doesn't work.

Thoughts please.

Much appreciated in advance

Re: Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming

Sounds simple but have you rebooted the modem.

Re: Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming

The full instructions for your router, in PDF format are here:
http://kbserver.netgear.com/pdf/wgt6...al_25Apr05.pdf

But, in stages, plug your NTL cable modem into the inter (wan) ethernet socket, and then, if no wireless adaptor bought yet for your 360, use ethernet cable to connect from rear of 360 to ethernet socket one on the netgear router.

When I was with NTL, I used the Linksys router, and found it so easy to set up, but reading the specs on the Netgear, there should be no problem setting that up to work too, so read the setup info slowly, and report back if you're still having problems, and we can go into more details, stage by stage with you.

Re: Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming

Yes, that's correct.
If you can connect by wire (ethernet to 360) instead of wireless, I'd be temted to just use that, as no further settings are required on your part to connect the 360 to XBox live.
Keep us informed as to how you're getting on, good luck

Dave.

Free wifi hotspot! Can't beat it!

Seriously, though, it's quite incredible how many people still move to wireless without securing it adequately. In this age of identity fraud..........
