If used correctly HDR images can look stunning. Especially if you want the background and foreground to be exposed to the same levels.

Those that use it for high contrasted highly saturated images are horrible.

I do prefer digital photography now as I can easily edit the photo on my phone to adjust everything about the image and then send it off to be printed. It's also good being able to zoom in and see more detail than you'd get on a 35mm printed out on 6x4 or 8x10.
