Question Advice Needed

I wondered if any of you knowlegable guys could help me with a small problem - my daughter's other half has taken the sky box and left her (and her 2 year old) with just a TV (no ariel connection). She needs to keep the expense to a minimum but would like access to the normal channels plus iPlayer and Disney+ app (I pay for the subscription). Could anyone suggest what the most cost-efective option(s) would be.
Thanks

Re: Advice Needed

I’d recommend a Freesat+ box, but their on demand functionality is limited (they have all the PSBs players, plus Netflix and a few others, but they have been slow to add the likes of Amazon, Disney or Apple, so it’s not entirely clear from their specs list whether these players are available or not. Some media news websites suggest they are). If Disney+ is high on the priority list, and provided she has reliable fast internet, she might be better off with a Roku player or an Amazon Fire stick. With these you can access live TV via the iPlayer or ITV player or whatever, plus you have access to all the commercial on demand services too.

Does she want to be able to record broadcast TV or is she happy enough using iPlayer etc for catch-up? If she definitely wants full broadcast reception, plus the broadest range of on demand players, a non-recordable Freesat box is £125, then a basic Amazon or Roku streaming device is around another £50.

Re: Advice Needed

Stick an indoor aerial into the TV to see what you can get. The firestick or Roku are great options for catch-up and Disney plus etc if you have WiFi.

Agreed the latest indoor aerials that stick to a window are quite effective at picking up freeview.
