Re: PC Spec Question.

All fans are Lian-Li Uni SL120 1900rpm fans except for the rear fan which is a stock Fractal case fan.

The fans are not pushing against each other, the ones at the front of the case are pulling air in through the front of the case which means pushing it through the radiator, then the ones on the back of the radiator are pulling the air through the radiator.

The air being pulled over the radiator and pushed in to the case does mean the temps are slightly around 1c or 2c higher than if the radiator was not there, since the majority of the heat is removed from the water by the top radiator.

The loop is basically:

Pump/Res to CPU

CPU to Top Rad

Top Rad to Front Rad

Front Rad to Pump/Res

Until the shed is built which will be a while, since it's going to cost between £5k and £10k for it, then I am looking at possibly changing the case or looking at a shroud under the GPU like what Major Hardware did on YouTube in his latest video, since really I don't need the sound card, which will allow me to put a fan in the shroud and then pull air directly to the GPU from the back of the case.

The thing is the 5950x and 3080Ti run hot anyway.

The CPU will overclock itself until it reaches a temp limit set in the bios which you can adjust, so I have it set to 75c but normally that would be 80c to 90c.

The GPU can pull anything up to 500w of power which produces a lot of heat, and that is dumped in to the case.

One of the problems with cases these days is that they are built for looks and not performance compared to years ago, where I could get a case with a side panel that would allow for fans to be installed on the side panel etc.

no no no the air flow is in the the same direction. One draws air through the case and pushes through the rad the other pulls air through the rad air just going one way

Glad to help you learn something today hehehehe

Edit Got beat to it hahaha

I hate the design of all the new cases. As you say just for looks. And what is with all the RGB. Hate clear side panels. TBH I just air cool my machine and this time of year just have the side panel off

I don't get it either, might be okay if you're 14-16 years old and want to show off etc. You can't beat the Fractal Define R5 case.

Re: PC Spec Question.

I don't mind RGB on Keyboard's, but inside the PC I wasn't really interested until I saw the Lian-Li fans that I am now using, because whilst they do add abit of colour, they are not overly bright etc, meaning they don't look like Rainbow Puke!

I could just set them to one colour but I honestly don't mind them at the moment the way they are.

I am still sort of tempted to learn how to make my own case, but I always go over the top with things so would probably end up building a case with 30+ fans

Re: PC Spec Question.

I have to agree when it comes to RGB in cases, this is why i didn't change my case during last upgrade as i couldn't find a case that i liked.

Cases these days without RGB tend to look cheap and nasty its as if companies are encouraging RGB and pushing it.

Re: PC Spec Question.

Whenever I look at PC builds finding cases with space for DVD drive and card reader is interesting. Most cases have "solid" front panels. My PC is years old and I'd love to have a new on but prices for some components aren't good at the moment and I'm spending over £6k on a GDip Theology course.

Re: PC Spec Question.

AMD Ryzen 7 3800X just over a year old. All my previous builds (there are many because I ain't young any more) have been Intel, but until they can compete with the value for money you get with AMD, I won't consider going back.

Re: PC Spec Question.

Pretty much all of the PCS cases have a slot for a DVD/BR drive.

They are good cases as well, Ive had several PCs from them over the last 15+ years.

Re: PC Spec Question.

it is only recently that the push towards gamers has taken precedence in the case market. You have to go hunting for a premium case that has space for more than a couple of ssds and 1 or 2 HDDs let alone an optical drive bay.

You can find them from the likes of Corsair, Fractal Design, and BeQuiet but the majority are all glass, RGB and little storage

Re: PC Spec Question.

I think in this day and age its pointless to be loyal to one brand, I've always gone for which ever is the best value for money at the time, based on price / performance.

Pentium 2 300mhz (First ever family computer)
Athlon XP 2200+
Core 2 Duo E4500 (Overclocked to 2.93ghz)
Core i5 2500k (Never did need to overclock that)
Ryzen 5 3600
