Off the top if my head. Aside from the obvious reason of giving a gift to someone for birthdays, etc, there are many people who don't want to use a credit card. For example, because they dont like giving out their card details or they find it easier to budget if it's not coming off automatically "out of sight". I've read numerous accounts of people losing track of subscriptions and paying for things they aren't even using anymore because there's no regular act being actively performed thst reminds them. And of course, some people don't, even can't, have credit cards.
And Debit Cards aren't always an option either, some services like AppleTV+ bizarrely don't accept Debit Cards. They even block certain access unless there's a credit (not debit) card in place as a verification procedure e.g. you can view TV+ on Apple devices and their Apps with a gift card payment but not on a web browser, which requires a credit card in place.

I don’t know if that’s true, but it is certainly the case that the reduced-fee ad-supported version will encourage a lot more people to watch it. There would be more still if the ad-supported version was free.

it depends on how many ads they throw at it and where they are. Before shows is one thing but during shows if to frequent is just not satisfactory.

Almost certainly, it would be during show and before shows. That’s what the commercial TV Players do now.

Just as i said would happen Netflix have announced price rises for UK customers.
The basic and standard plan will both increase by £1 a month to £6.99 and £10.99. The premium tier will go up by £2 to £15.99.
The price change is immediate for all new members, while existing members will be notified by email 30 days before they come into effect. The streaming giant then confirmed in its statement issued today: "We offer a range of plans so members can choose a price that works best for them."

Netflix is going have to be very careful with these price increases whilst I don’t think will see the masses cancelling I do believe you’ll see a considerable amount downgrading packages.

I think they're being shrewd getting in their price rises now. The later they announce it, the less disposable income people will have and so more likely they would be to cancel.
