Re: Football talk
So the refs are finally going to clamp down on cheats who dive...
Article here
Why only a yellow card though? The culprits should be sent off and banned.
The sport (sic) is far enough in the gutter already.

Re: Football talk
Have you read the 4 criteria they are supposed to watch out for?
I have a feeling strikers are gonna get booked willy nilly now, when they go down in the oppositions penalty area.

I see what you are saying Steve...
Will it be a situation where if a striker goes down in the area the ref will have only 2 choices..
Either punish the defender and award a penalty or book the attacker and award a free kick.
Will there also be trial by tv... where if the ref didn't see what happened the FA will take retrospective action?
Diving has to be stamped out though.

Re: Football talk
Well done Arsenal, as much as it pains me to admit it, you were a joy to watch tonight. You deserve the title.
We'll be back for it next season though

Re: Football talk
I dont think talking abboout Arsenal is needed now, What can we say? I was almost crying when henry scored that 4th goal. We where watching a legend tonight, this was the highest level, there is nothing to compare to, nothing. He will be talked about for generations, hhe will be the best ever player when he retires and that day will be the saddest day in football.
Talking about the match is pointless, it was so much more.
I had Arsenal will be back in my name. We are.

No ?
From the Manchester Evening News............and I quote
Quote:
Choose Arsenal. Choose overbearing arrogance. Choose systematic dirty play and calling it "competitiveness". Choose the most staged, contrived, celebrations ever witnessed. Choose winning two championships in eleven seasons and acting like you've won seven in nine. Choose to see yourselves as one of the giants of continental football when you've never even reached a European cup semi-final in your entire history. Choose having the quietest stadium in the world ("the library") as your home ground, and then having the cheek to slag Man Utd about their fans. Choose fancying yourselves as better than Real Madrid, then having Chelsea run rings around you at home. Choose turning the sports section of the Observer into a gunners fanzine. Choose getting away with light or delayed punishments at FA disciplinary hearings because you've had every possible string pulled by David Dein. Choose a persecution complex nonetheless and never shut up about it. Choose embarrassing yourselves in a Renault "va-va-voom" ad Choose George Graham grinding his way to the dullest championship win of all time. Choose picking Ray Parlour for over a decade. Choose 58 red cards in seven years. Choose bottling the treble despite having all the luck in the world. Choose Arsenal.

Re: Football talk
Well dont post stuff like that then. Arsenal deserve to win the title this season, they have been excellent this season so if you dont want to see this then at least dont try to put down any team othher thhan man u simply because they are not the winners.
Man U have not lost the title because Arsenal cheat and such they won because they where not good enough

No, I think he was trying to point out that consistency is needed to be the team that Arsenal think they are. Not winning the title one year then losing it the next.
Not whinging about other teams getting an easy run in the treble winning year just days after there run went belly up.

People will be talking about, Pele, J Cryuff, G Best, S Mathews, T Finney, D Edwards, D Law, J Charles, long after Henry is forgotton. even allowing for Henry's undoubted talent, not one of those other players was a cheating diver.

Re: Football talk
cheating diver?
Why do people insist on putting succesful teams/people/companys down. As soon as something good happens out come the cynics and jealous resentment of there success. Arsenal are a great team, henry is one of best players and will be remembered if he continues like he is.
