Didn't realise anyone watched standard definition TV these days - especially for sport.

Do keep up

So 45% of these people have really good eyesight that sd is sufficient or their eyesight is that bad they can’t tell the difference.
Why would you watch in sd when you have HD? Or am I missing something.

But you have to remember the human race don't always behave in the same way.

Exactly!
For me, the only reason to watch in SD would be if I was away for 2 weeks and didn't have enough space to record everything in HD.

It's a combination of people who don't realise they aren't watching HD (because they think simply owning an HDTV is sufficient), those who can't see a difference, and those who just aren't bothered.

And those for who their TV or digital box upscales the picture, and does a great job of doing so.
And those who don't have the HD version in their package and aren't willing to pay extra for it.
And some who don't have wall-size televisions which show up the poorer resolutions.

I don't think it's anything to do with eyesight! You simply get a much sharper picture with HD. If watching on a larger screen, SD pictures are grainy. If you watch HD all the time, and then tune into an SD channel, the difference is very noticeable indeed.

It can be a lot to do with eyesight. If you can't see SD-sized pixels at your viewing distance, making the pixels smaller won't make any difference to you.

I think that's what I was saying! We just came at it from different directions.

Yes, I agree. But it does appear to me that quite a lot of people these days have the bigger screens. Mine is a 49", but I don't think that is so exceptional. We can certainly see a big difference in picture quality, and UHD is outstanding!

Another couple of reasons you have to pay more for HD channels and apart from Sport SD channels have more favourable channel numbers!
