You'd think they'd have the sense to issue them to customers who can no longer tolerate the old box. Some have been customers for over 20 years and VM have effectively just shrugged their shoulders (they did this to me after 17 years).
Its cheaper to keep an existing customer as opposed to touting for a new one; they really don't have a clue.

How do you work that out?
Existing customers already paying and new customers bring in extra revenue so it makes more sense to attract new customers

What happened to keeping your loyal customer base happy? The previous management did.
But one case does not prove that new customers are getting priority

It would be pretty expensive for VM to replace all 2m Tivo boxes en masse. eg If each box cost VM £70, that would be £140m.

Screenshot of email from Virgin attached.
There is also a link to website virginmedia.com/mynewbox
Very little info on box, but pics of front and back connections.

From that document, here's a link to all the pages on VM's site about the new box. /mynewbox takes you to:

If you calmed down a little bit and read things properly, you would understand that they mean your V6 box won't look like the one on the website as that is the existing Tivo box.

Re: Virgin Media V6 - Powered by TiVo(new STB)
So it's got WiFi. The remote is Bluetooth and it has a find remote feature like Sky Q. But only 1Tb of storage still.
Doesn't sound all that great really.
Only 4k will be Netflix if you pay and free YouTube content.
We know it will be the TiVo software we already have.

It would not surprise me if there is one with a bigger storage just like the current TiVo's Virgin have..

Re: Virgin Media V6 - Powered by TiVo(new STB)
It also only mentions an installation and activation fee.
Installation: An engineer installation fee applies (starting from £40 for standard install).
Activation Fee: There is an activation fee of £14.99.
Doesn't mention anything about an additional monthly fee or even a fee for the box itself. Or will that come later?

There could be a 3Tb available, we just don't know if this is just a one-box-fits-all solution.
There's also likely to be Amazon 4k content too.

According to MB's latest posting there are definitely at least 2 box sizes.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016) Vol 2
Below is MediaBoy's original post with my comments in italics. MediaBoy's comments are from August and obviously the marketplace has changed since then.
TiVo A:
-1tb
-6 tuners
-wifi
-Allow streaming to one device
-Cost £99 with a £12p/m charge.
The 1Tb has 4K. I don't think there would be an extra £12pm charge as this is just the standard box.
TiVo B:
-2tb
-6 tuners
-Allow you to stream to 4 devices
-wifi
-4k
-Cost £199 with £15p/m charge.
I can't see VM selling this for £200, no one would buy it.
Information may change.
