Re: Netflix/Streaming Services
As a Virgin Media customer for a decade, and on and off cable customer for 25 years I've learned to expect things later than announced. Was Channel 4 HD not about 3 years?

SYFY UHD has appeared on our system to be licenced which is interesting but also possibly squashes any ideas of SYFY closing.

Our systems at work the company without going into too much detail for obvious reasons are like the middle man if that makes any sense?
My job is to ensure the contracts and offers get to the correct department they are supposed to be.

Re: Netflix/Streaming Services
Britbox seem to be doing better than some expected, at least according to Britbox. Better than planned, apparently. I’d love to know the subscriber numbers, particularly as the service is not available on the Sky or Virgin Media plarforms.

Than they expected then. Without knowing their benchmark or where they are it’s quite an irrelevant statement for them to make. Buys cheap positive headlines I suppose.
At least it shows there’s demand for millionth run television in the 2020s, despite some slurring it as tired old repeats.

Any bets this is when they release numbers?
"He advised that in early October, BT was launching an offer for its broadband customers to get six months BritBox for free on its YouView box. “That’s eight million BT broadband homes.”

Yes. Nice to see that the British sites are also getting the subscribers.
Both streamers need to ensure the addition of originals at frequent intervals though if they are to take off.

All the hallmarks of venture capitalism. Talk it up, get some hype going and punt it before the crash.

Re: Netflix/Streaming Services
Netflix may be raising prices again. https://popculture.com/streaming/new...es-soon-again/
Quote:
Netflix subscribers may be shelling out a little more money to tune into their favorite series. According to recent reports, the streaming giant is planning yet another price hike that could potentially be coming sooner rather than later, much to the disdain of viewers.
Yahoo Finance reports that the streaming service is planning to raise its subscription prices to boost revenue. Citing a new note to clients from Jefferies analyst Brent Thill, the streamer could be raising prices by $1 to $2 "in all four of its geographies," which could bring in an additional $500 million to $1 billion in extra sales in 2021. The price hike is expected to bring only a minimal loss in subscribers, as Netflix has an expansive content catalog and has put increased focus on its original content, meaning to view those original titles, people must have a Netflix subscription.
While Netflix has not yet confirmed such a price hike, Netflix COO Greg Peters, during its earnings report in August, implied that a subscription plan price increase could be coming. He cited the streamer's growing original titles library as the reason for a potential increase.

It’s venture capitalism 101. You don’t need a plan, you just need to find some other idiot who thinks you do.
See .com boom from 20 years ago. You’re naive if you don’t think these behaviours continue today.
