My opinion was based before the draw was made as they showed on SSN this morning the worse possible draw scenario for Man City.

Re: Football Season 2011/12
Looks like all three Scottish Clubs crashing out of the Europa League already. Their UEFA coefficient is screwed, even more so.

Because English clubs belong in the english leagues and Scottish clubs belong in their own leagues across the border.

Re: Football Season 2011/12
Think it would be really hard to integrate them into English Football. Celtic and Rangers would need to go in at around Championship level but where do we find the room for them? I think the only way would be a restructuring of the Premier League. Spilt it into two leagues, with four Championship teams and the bottom half of the Premier League creating the lower league. The Championship would be reduced by four games but now include Rangers and Celtic.

It will never happen and remember the scots do not even want to play in the Great Britain Olympic football team.

Celtic and Rangers will still have their identity but they would also have a future worthy of their name and status in the game. The rest of the SPL would do better in their absence, they could introduce a salary cap and have more exciting leagues. It would be a niche league but a more successful one than at present.
There is nothing of the horizon that suggests something will halt Scottish Football's decline. There need to do something. All their teams are out of the Europa League already. This is a serious problem for them.

It's actually the Scottish FA not wanting to lose their independent national team which is why they don't want to be part of the GB team. The FA could argue that if they play as a combined team then their special independent status would be nul and void even though the Olympic rules see the Great Britain as the country (which does beg the question where does NI come into Olympic rules as it's Great Britain and not United Kingdom but that is a whole other thread??). It would therefore have little effect if the Scottish, Welsh and English leagues were merged as it's purely a national team argument.
