At a guess you've been moved to a new CMTS. I had another funny when this happened to me a few weeks back, I was apparently in Newcastle according to geolocation lookups for a few weeks. Presumably an IP range recycled from oop-north.

If you're on 16 it is one of the next generation ones.

You were talking about an upgraded CMTS. I was referring to Coventry CMTS 16.
You have a modem that tunes 8 channels only.

I know this because I have tested at all times more than once since the latest speed up grade including small hours(if I'm up and about), evenings, breakfast, week days, weekends peak times and off peak times. Invariably I get those speeds.
I am a keen speed tester, using speedtest.net, thinkbroadband, dsl reports and the Uswitch tester. I get similar results with file download tests.

That is right, so I have no idea if I have been moved to an upgraded CMTS without some other source of information.

I can't say it's how I'd spend my time or if I'd be that bothered but to each their own I guess.

A reverse traceroute would work.

I'm reliably told by VM Support that it's an Arris. All my 8 downstreams are QAM256, 2 upstreams are QAM64
