BT need to sort their 'British' punditry out. Sky has a good foundation in that area, BT haven't. BT though does have good continental Europe punditry. I reckon its time they threw people out and nabbed people from ITV/Sky leading up to 2015

How long do you see BT Sports being free with BT BB for ?
|
I felt their was a need to roll my eyes MM. I get fed up with the whole paying extra topic. If I knew how to add multiple quotes, I would have done so. I should have added other peoples names to my post, so I apologize for not adding those names and rolling eyes at them too.
I personally can see BT Sports being free for many, many years. There are many different companies people can get BB from, probably at lower prices (or through half price for new customers etc) than BT will offer. BT Sports and ESPN is a fantastic USP for sports fans. The report on the BBC states the key for them is to grow BB and later on it states they made pre-tax profits of £948 million for a six month period. This strategy is clearly not hurting them, so why change it?
They also state they will not be charging for PL football for existing BB customers (I imagine they will offer a new deal at the start of each PL season for non-existing BB customers) and will only be charging for some CL football. Again, the "free" PL appears to be working for them, so why change it?
I dare say this seems a very simply argument, but I just can not see BT changing what appears to be a beneficial promotional activity.

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
So each British team at least once and both finals free to air. So four Champions League matches and three Europa League matches and then the final four each competition. Or ten matches. The rest of the matches behind a pay wall, and for at least the first season of this rights cycle separated from those who choose to pay Sky for the bulk, and best, of the Premier League. Leaving consumers with a choice between competitions or paying two subscriptions to get what they currently get for one.
Hard to see how the consumer wins here.

Ray Stubbs would do a better job as lead presenter IMO. Cannot stand Owen, Mcmanaman or Hargreaves.

Exactly my thoughts.
I'm also surprised by the lack of BT bashing. If SKY had snapped up these exclusive rights they'd be getting torn to shreds today.
I'm all for a shake up in the market but all I'm seeing is more and more sport disappearing behind a pay-wall.
Until people stop subscribing to the likes of SKY Sports and BT Sports this trend will forever continue.
Rightly or wrongly I preferred when pretty much everything was on SKY Sports. 1 subscription to access everything I wanted. Now I've got to pay for SKY Sports, BT Sports and Boxnation to access what I was able to watch as little as 8 years ago.

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
To be fair at least Jake Humphrey can get the players names right. Michael Owen can't even mange that. The few times i have watchec a match on BT i have had to turn off the sound as i could not bare the awful comments of Owen which 9/10 had nothing to do with what was happening it but some personal grudge he had against a player or team.
As for this news.... Can people not see BT striking a deal with one of the main 4 broadcasters for the FTA games? BT are going to surely have to many matches to screen themselves with the current channel line up. Also i can't see BT making the sport channel FTA every week for 1 game, it will also beg the question where are they going to show the other matches that are happening at the same time if that did happen.
