Re: O2 scam calls
This all sounds like a data breach to me! I remember a good few years ago TalkTalk was hacked any they basically had a lot of data from customer database. would not surprise me if this has happened again with o2..

Re: O2 scam calls
I had the same problem with Talk Talk my data was sold on by a call centre used by Talk Talk in India. People would ring up and they would know your address, age etc, I just stopped using them.

Probably not, just that time of year for scammers, so prevention is better than cure - I’ve had similar emails in the last few days from Halifax, Barclaycard, Amex, Skipton Building Society, PayPal, & Amazon…

Difference is these are not in the same volume and dont already know all your private details.
I think its almost 100% O2 have been breached at this point, they have in my opinion decided its better for them to keep it internal.

They’re not allowed to "keep it internal" - they have to inform the ICO within 24 hours, be then inform customers.

I suppose its possible O2 havent realised they have been compromised, or they feel they cant confirm it.

Those two statements contradict each other.

Re: O2 scam calls
Seems easy enough to understand.
His opinion is they got breached, and havent told anyone.
However, he admits [its possible] that his opinion may be incorrect.

So I think its almost certain they have been compromised.
The bit I think confusing you is I posted I think they have made a decision to keep quiet about it, but the second quote is me acknowledging they might not be aware, or they might not be sure and might still be investigating it or something.
Paul beat me to it.

Re: O2 scam calls
Been with O2 for years now. Never had any calls pretending to be O2.
Most of my spam calls are the usual you've had a car accident type. I usually start with but I get the bus as I can't drive. Call ends quickly.

Re: O2 scam calls
If you get a call from the one that says about an accident you've been in I say one of the following 2, then immediately hang up.
1. Do you mean the one I died in?
2. Do you mean the one with the elephant and industrial lubricant?
