Veronika Decides to Die (2009) - 7.5/10
Sarah Michelle Gellar is really good in it and the movie has a strong core message that life is precious delivered in a unsentimental or patronising way. Based on a Paulo Coelho book.

Avatar in 3D 10/10 absolutely stunning and brilliant, already planning to go see it in the nearest IMax over the Christmas break.
If you are going to see it ensure that you go see it in 3D if possible.

re: Rate the last movie you saw
Blood: The Last Vampire (live action, not the anime one).
Not sure what I'd rate it, but I really enjoyed it.
OK, the SFX were awful, the CGI blood looked stupid, the script was poor, & the acting was laughable (even from Colin "that guy from Bond" Salmon).
But somehow... it was still sort of awesome. Kind of "so bad it's good".

Avatar 3D - 10/10.
Amazing, breathtaking, etc, etc.
Have to see it again, to see the bits I am sure I missed because I was so impressed by the 3D (not in your face, but so effective). I really liked the Sky 3D ad before the film.

The Box - 5/10
It's one of these movies, where you're not actually supposed to get the storyline until the end.
And even when you find out the storyline, it wasn't worth waiting for.

Rambo III - 8/10 really enjoyed it as a dumb action move, nothing more, nothing less. Amazing stunts etc.
It's nice watching these "old" films, an knowing that it is real people doing these crazy things, it's not all cgi. Might have to see if Ben Hur or Spartacus are on over Christmas

Avatar in 3D.
Wow. 10/10.
Felt a bit headachey at the beginning but after 5 minutes it was gone and the 3 hours flew by.

re: Rate the last movie you saw
I asked this before but don't think I got a response. Do you need a good eyesight for 3D? When C4 had their 3D Week thing I tried it but it looked more or less the same as without wearing 3D glasses.

I am a glasses wearer and they are varifocals and I had no problem watching Avatar, the 3D glasses are similar to sunglasses with longer arms to encompass glasses.
You must see Avatar in 3D if possible and if you can get to one watch it in an IMAX.

re: Rate the last movie you saw
Not understanding all this love for Avatar. Story is awful, it's like the invasion of Iraq but in space with Smurfs.
Overblown special FX/3D does not make a great film.
Good story telling ftw.

re: Rate the last movie you saw
That's the thing - I don't think the 3D was overblown.
Occasionally, it would catch my attention, but it just seemed "right" (mostly).
As for the CGI, I thought that was amazing.

Sorry SB, I think thats a ***** comparison. I take it you have actually seen the film?
Most films have special effects and the more recent ones, 3D.
Just try and take the film for what it is.
