Re: Football Season 2014/15
The great man has finally hung up his boots but he was certainly some player that's for sure.

Clearly not too well. Gallas scored that goal.
Henry was not the first or last person who didn't own up to a handball leading up to a goal. It happens all the time. What did everyone expect him to do? Go to the referee and say it wasn't a goal, that he had handballed it? It would have been a great act of sportsmanship but also an extremely rare one. Ireland themselves won a dubious penalty in the run up to the qualifiers and amazingly Robbie Keane didn't refuse to take it out of sportsmanship either. Roy Keane said it best: http://youtu.be/IMHwCbbG6WY
Thankfully that one incident hasn't become all he is famous for however much some had hoped it would in the aftermath.

He says 'can' not 'will' any team in the top half 'can' still technically win the league.

But catching Chelsea? No way. Unless they crap out completely, which I can't see happening. When we start winning games based on performance and not a combination of luck and the opposition playing poorly we'll be contenders. I still reckon we'll finish third or fourth, second at a push.

Re: Football Season 2014/15
What's the betting Premier bosses close this loophole soon?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...rmer-club.html
Tom Cleverley will serve his one match ban against Man United. A fixture that under the terms of his loan agreement he would not have been allowed to play in, as it is against his parent club. So he can serve the ban during this fixture and be back for the fixture after that.
I personally don't have a problem with this, but I bet that someone somewhere in the Premier League will want this loophole shut down.

No, although I couldn't be blamed if I did lol.
Abject performance and this has all the signs of being " Groundhog Season "
Playing style has been sussed out by opposition and we have no answer to an In your face playing style by opponents.

Re: Football Season 2014/15
A more reasoned response to TH's retirement from Oliver Brown in todays Telegraph.
Hooray for Henry but some perspective needed
Officially, he has only been retired for a day, but I am already over the Thierry Henry love-in. I am through with sentences that begin, "The word legend is often overused, but in this case...", done with the endless replays of that comeback Arsenal goal against Leeds United. He was the most majestic striker, but his £4 million-a-year Sky contract – with the proviso that he is still able to cover major tournaments for the BBC – is absurd in its lavishness.
Yes, he remains the Premier League’s fourth highest goalscorer, but on the all-time list since 1888 he ranks a distant 43rd. Some perspective, please.

Re: Football Season 2014/15
Derek Llambias appointed Rangers chief executive. Whomever suggested Ashley was looking to buy Rangers and sell Newcastle off is not looking so silly now.
For the time being theirs two iconic clubs under the wrath of the fat man, disgrace. The quicker they ban this bloke from having anything to do with football the better.
Rangers find themselves in a position where they literally have no money coming in and have no choice but to take anything Ashley will give. Ashley will complete the purchase before or during the summer if not sooner and then offload Newcastle. The milking of rangers will then sadly start.
