As the name implies, its Sky Stream(ed).
Why not just look on the Sky site, since it has lots of info on it.

Be aware that, from what I have read, you have to pay an additional monthly charge to fast forward through commercials.

VHS recorders might make a comeback if we aren't allowed to ff through ads. In some ways we've gone backwards. God bless the BBC where such things aren't an issue.

That wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. VHS was a good, reliable technology and it was a shame that it was superceded by DVD. Audio cassettes are making some sort of comeback, vinyl most definitely has so why not VHS?
