Rule changes you'd like to see
A bit of fun but if you could change rules in any sport or the format of an event what would you do? Doesn't have to be sensible.
Soccer
Penalty goal - if defending team fouls the ball off the goal line where it definitely would score the ref can award the goal instead of a penalty.
Sin bin - yellow card, off the field for 10 mins.
Cricket
T20 - Each member of the fielding team, bar wicket keeper, bowls max 2 overs.

Re: Rule changes you'd like to see
In football l would definitely have the 10 minute sin bin and as for penalties l would scrap them all together and then players can learn how to defend properly again instead of resorting to the easier way of cheating to get one.

Re: Rule changes you'd like to see
Boxing and MMA to introduce a mandatory 5 judge system to help nullify bogus cards and silly outcomes.
See, Mayweather vs Canelo, Pacquiao vs Bradley, Khan vs Peterson, Golovkin vs Canelo, specifically CJ Ross who scored a loss for Pacquiao in a clear win and a draw in a Mayweather fight, the latter having obviously inflated betting odds, she typically quit before any investigation took place. The next being Adelaide Byrd who scored a 4 round + win for Canelo Alvarez over Golovkin, she's long been suspected as a Golden Boy picked judge and produced that card nobody could replicate. Before this, Dana White of UFC refused to sign off on events that she'd be assigned to after a shocking card back in a 2012 event. She since returned and Dana had a few expletives for her afterwords.

Then you'd need umpteen other changes to cards for certain offences to justify this. It doesn't work. The current system is fine. It's a two game ban for successful deception of the referee and or yellow card if the referee spots it. With the addition of VAR. Rule one will be relaxed and we'll see more yellows for the latter thanks to VAR. The weight and balance of various offences wouldn't fit when you start sending people off for failing to deceive the referee.

Re: Rule changes you'd like to see
Tennis, play must be continuous as in Squash, a break of one minute only between sets not every two games. No bouncing the ball twenty times or more before serving and one serve only.

Re: Rule changes you'd like to see
Kill them, you must be joking. In a five set game of squash which has much longer rallies that is exactly the amount of time that used to given between sets.
In one of these “super fit tennis players have now been on court for nearly five hours” matches they will have played less than 30 minutes of actual tennis, seriously that is how long the ball is in play in such games.
In fact one survey in the US found that the ball was ‘in play’ for just over 16 % of the duration of a match.

Re: Rule changes you'd like to see
Ban the grunting in tennis when they hit balls.
I hear less grunting in porn movies.

you realise the penalty is awarded to the attacking team, not the defending one?

There is of course rules in place that allow this already, albeit they're not mandatory and less so rarely enforced.
They did introduce a rule in which only Captains may approach a referee, at least in the Premier League. This hasn't stopped big events in a game resulting in a swarm.
