network name change

network name change

I have just went wireless, using my virgin modem and Netgear WG511v2, the thing is I do not like the (SSID) network name I have set up, how can I change this or can I delete this profile and start again?

The SSID is set via the router, once you;ve set a new SSID then you;ll probably have to reset up the connection on the PC (i.e.. set up a new wireless profile which is dependant on which wireless card you have and which software it has installed

Sorry maybe its just me, but still not sure I understand
so can I just delete the network I have set up and start again?

Yes, but first you need to change the SSID in the router (as the SSID is the given name of the wifi netowrk of that particular router)

this is really embarrassing, but How do I do that?


I entered the IP address of my router into my web browser's address bar and hit "enter", but page Failed to open!

You perhaps read the manual which came with whichever router you bought...... As currently only you know that answer
