new router

I have a d-link dir 615 works great. I notes that the router only got 2 ch. b/g I use a macbook & other wifi devices downstairs & the router upstaires. If a buy a new router will it be better lan speed waired/wifi? I'm on virgin media broadband. I'm thinking on getting this router TP-Link Archer C5 AC1200 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router Any ideas about the new router

The DIR-615 has 14 channels.

A new router will only make a difference if your client hardware is better than your current router.
