Why is one of my phone shows orange network?

I am aware that a virgin mobile will use orange (and T-mobile?) when their own signal is weak.

I have two identical phones. Phone 1 is on a sim only monthly contract while phone 2 is on PAYG.

On phone 1 it says orange network, there is a G in a box symbol and a triangle next to it.

Phone 2 just has a G in a box. It is on virgin signal.

The phones are Lobster 700TV.

Could anyone explain why two phones are on different signal/network? Have turned off phone 1 but no difference. Just curious.

Re: Why is one of my phone shows orange network?

They are still on the same network. Some phones will show orange instead of virgin.

If they are on the real virgin network it should say Virgin with a capital V, the orange network will show virgin with a lowercase v.

Also the small triangle can indicate "roaming" on to another network.

Re: Why is one of my phone shows orange network?

Yes because you are 'roaming' to the orange network. Most phones wont show that now though. When VM first started sharing networks I would get an R on the screen.
